Mesothelioma is a form of cancer caused by the exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma’s malignant cells develop a protective lining, mesothelium, that covers the internal organs of the body, especially the outer lining of the lungs, the pleura ( the desease is called pleural mesothelioma ). It can also affect the sac that surrounds the heart ( pericardium ) or the lining of the abdominal cavity ( peritoneum ). The Mesothelioma cancer is deadly and the patients have a survival time of 6 to 12 months after presentation. But Paul Kraus was diagnosed with mesothelioma in 1997 and researched different therapies wit his family and managed to heald himself, being alive after 10 years after being diagnosed. He has even wrote a book, Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A patient’s Guide, where he offers practical advice for patients.
